Welcome to the new website of the Department of Adult Cardiology of the Philippine Heart Center. This medium of communication should bring us closer, not only to the members of our staff, e.g. the medical specialists, technologists and other paramedical personnel, but to the general public as well, as we labour to present our current activities, share pertinent information and concerns regarding cardiovascular diseases and keep our staff updated on ongoing projects and scientific discussions.
We are holding our Department's annual Cardiology symposium which we now named Cardiology in Focus 2007 which has become a tradition and an important part of our continuing effort to reach out to other practitioners and resident trainees. This is also an opportunity to raise some funds to support our indigent patients in the Heart Center who need permanent pacemakers. At the same time, our own cardiology fellows-in-training get a real feel of organizing scientific symposia as they plan and implement the whole activity with minimal guidance from the consultant staff. One of our younger graduates, Dr. Agapito Fortuno, Jr., is at the helm of the organizing committee and this year's program promises to be a class A indication for all levels of practice of adult cardiology.
We look forward to an effective communication tool that will make our department more relevant to the Philippine Heart Center's pursuit of excellence in cardiovascular care.
